In my current build I am creating a combined Crown Knights faction called the Knights of the Crown & Pennant. In this post I am going to be showing the livery designs for their units.
I have only created three units so far, musketeers, cavaliers and pikemen. I will in future be creating some designs for the knights themselves.
Musketeers
My Crown & Pennant Musketeers wield a musket and a rapier and feature ruffled collars and cavalier hats with one side turned up to keep their muskets from knocking their hats off in combat.
I have sourced various minifig parts to make them, mainly the legs and arms from the Troubador CMF, a plain blue torso with a custom designed sticker added, an over-shoulder scabbard to hold a rapier, a musket, the cavalier hat from the Musketeer CMF with the feather from the Yellow Castle Knight CMF in it and a neck ruff from the Shakespeare CMF.
Cavaliers
My Crown & Pennant Cavaliers wield rapiers and a shield and feature tricorne hats and capes.
I have sourced various minifig parts to make them including the legs, arms and feather from the Troubador CMF, a plain blue torso with a custom designed sticker added, a blank light grey shield with a custom sticker added, a rapier, a tricorne hat and the dark blue cape/cloak from the Falconer CMF.
Pikemen
My Crown & Pennant Pikemen wield decorative pikes and shields and wear golden morion helmets and detailed breastplaces with ruffled collars.
I have sourced various minifig parts to make them including once again the legs and arms from the Troubador CMF, a plain blue torso with a custom sticker added, the golden morion helmet and printed golden breastplate from the Conquistador CMF, plain light grey shields with a custom sticker added, a decorative pike, the neck ruff from the Shakespeare CMF, and the feather from the Yellow Castle Knight CMF.
[…] my next post (which will hopefully be posted in the next week or so) I will be revealing some of my minifig torso designs and livery for the new faction, I just have to wait for some BrickLink orders to arrive with a few of the parts I need to finish […]
How man, it is so great that you even designed a torso for the pilemen. I always thought it was sad when a CMF with a breastplate or costume turned out to just have a plain torso.
Thanks, it is because I don’t know when to stop! But I agree 100% with you.
This is Great! Thanks for the detailed walk through on your minfig construction…I’ve recently created a new Bard/Troubadour for my pics and I think I’m going to steal some of your musketeer elements to upgrade him.
Love the blog/website. I need to start something like this.
Thanks, I would love to see what you come up with!
Yeah I do like to have a website as a place to keep a record of my thought process and ideas.
Fantastic Dale, how you’ve dressed up your Knights of the Crown & Pennant faction! What I like most is that you brought a normal Middle Ages scenario to a 16th century scenario with the coming of the Musketeers! 😃👍 A lot of parts must be very hard to get, like the neck ruff or the arms and legs of the troubadour CMF.
I’am looking forward to future stories of this faction! 🫡
these look great! Good Work
Thank you, glad you like them!
